1/ Espoo

Fans of Scandinavian design, this is what you’re looking for! Espoo opened its doors at the Vlaamse Kaai in 2009 and moved to Antwerp's Kloosterstraat eight years later. It was was one of the first stores to collect the best from Scandinavia in a completely new concept. Call it the mecca for Nordic minimalism! Today Espoo remains true to its Scandinavian roots but assembles unique interior objects from all over the world. Nice to know: since the big move in 2017, Espoo also has its own interior design studio called Espoo Lab. And if Antwerp’s just a little bit too far for you, you can shop online too.

Kloosterstraat 75/77, 2000 Antwerpen - Open on Tuesday from 13:00 to 18:00, Wednesday to Friday from 10:30 to 18:00 and Sunday from 13:00 to 18:00, closed on Mondays- www.espoo.be

2/ vitra partner store

Next up: the Vitra Partner Store in the Sint-Antoniussstraat. This is the very first Vitra Partner Store and as far as I’m concerned it won’t definetely be their last. In this 700m² space you’ll discover the full Vitra catalog - including a giant wall with their full collection of chairs - and some well-known designs by Charles and Ray Eames, Jean Prouvé, Maarten van Severen and co. Fun fact: the Vitra Partner Store is located in the former showroom of Walter Van Beirendonck - you know, one out of six of the famous Antwerp Six - not far from the Antwerp Fashion Museum. Be sure to plan a stop there too!

Vitra Partner Store - Sint-Antoniusstraat 12, 2000 Antwerp - Open from Tuesday to Sunday, each time from 11:00 to 18:00 - www.antwerpen.vitrapoint.be

3/ St. Vincents

Another beauty in this list of interior shops: St. Vincents. When founders Henri and Geraldine said goodbye to their office jobs in December 2015, they decided to breathe new life into an old printing house on the Kleine Markt. Coffeehouse, concept store, design agency and art gallery St. Vincents was born. The rough edges of the original building were preserved and filled with a careful selection of rare finds and contemporary design. At St. Vincents you will find furniture, art and design from established values such as Apparatus Studio and destroyers/builders alongside work by young Belgian designers, vintage finds and beautiful coffee table books. And a delicious cup of coffee, too! Read the full Tried & Tested about St. Vincents here.

St. Vincents - Kleine Markt 13, 2000 Antwerp - Open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 18:30 and on Sundays from 12:00 to 17:00, closed on Wednesday - www.stvincents. co

4/ wilder

A flower shop that makes your heart beat faster. That’s Wilder! Marijke Boesmans, a trained florist with a knack for events, and Mayken Craenen, an image maker with a language degree joined forces in this celebration of everything floral. Wilder sells seasonal flowers, plants and artful goods to use yourself or gift to someone you love. It’s is also the place to be for floral arrangements, installations and more and Mayken and Marijke also regularly hosts workshops and events. There’s this thing called ‘a webshop’ but I strongly recommend passing by their real-life store to stop and smell the flowers (see what I did there?!). The motto at Wilder? Let’s make the everyday a little wilder. Mission accomplished if you ask me!

Wilder - Provinciestraat 28, Antwerpen - Open from Wednesday to Friday from 12:00 to 18:30 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 17:00 - www.wilderwilder.be

5/ faren

No interior shopping list without a good lightstore, right? In Antwerp, Faren is the place to be for industrial lighting solutions. Everything in their store is sourced from ships and abandoned industrial sites across the globe and gets its own distinctive character due to weather, use and the test of time. Each and every lamp is restored with care to comply with European regulations and fitted with energy-efficient LED bulbs before being displayed in the store. Looking for a one-of-a-kind, high quality lamp with a beautiful story attached to it? Faren is where you’ll find it!

Faren - Minderbroedersrui 42, Antwerp - Open from Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 to 19:00 - www.faren.be
