5x local Belgian webshops #intimesofcorona

We won’t be scrolling through the shopping streets these next couple of weeks but fortunately, we can still go crazy on our favorite webshops. The hashtag #shoplocal has been trending for quite some time now, but is even more relevant in these crazy Corona times. By supporting local entrepreneurs, we can reduce their financial hangover to a minimum. Here’s a list of my favorite local Belgian webshops.

1 / Frau

You can read all about Frau's offline store here, but this time it’s all about the webshop. Every month Frau’s owner Sarah chooses sixteen items from her shop and curates them into an online capsule collection. Those items can be clothing, shoes and accessories, but also interior objects, ceramics and home fragrances. The things that really stand out for her that month. The March Edit on Frau Boutique is themed ‘I woke up in spring’. Perfect for shopping your spring wardrobe or buying some ceramic cups by Patrick Jadot. And with Apotheke’s home fragrances, you make this whole quarantine ting a little more pleasant.

2 / Gaarne

It was Veronique's childhood dream to open a wool shop, following the example of her mom. In May last year she opened the doors of Gaarne, a place where you can go to discover and make beautiful things with wool. Now that Gaarne temporarily has to close its doors because of the Coronacraze, Veronique provides you with a warm and creative pastime from a distance. You can place your order via email, WhatsApp or Instagram and Team Gaarne makes sure that it’s delivered to your doorstep. Happy knitting!

3 / Anna Pops

Looking for fun shoes, clothes and accessories for your kids? Or would you like to surprise a nephew or niece? Anna Pops is the place to be. Options are endless and the brands sold at Anna Pops are always effortlessly cool and quirky. Tina and her team attach great importance to sustainability and manage to tell an authentic story with a focus on quality and craftsmanship. Put this one on your to-do list for when we can all go out again but for now: just shop online.

4 / Redo Papers

Working from home, no better excuse to stock up on paper goodies from Redo Papers. Driven by a passion for craftsmanship, typography and beautiful, tangible design, Tille and Linde give paper surpluses a second life. In addition, everything is locally produced to minimize the carbon footprint. In their webshop you’ll find the best notebooks, planners and notepads. Perfect to give your home office an extra stylish boost.

5 / House Raccoon

When I attended a Terrazzo Coaster workshop of House Raccoon a few months ago, my Instagram inbox exploded with messages from everyone who wanted to try it. Now that Anneleen and Nathan had to cancel lots of their workshops, they offer a DIY Terrazzo Coaster kit in their webshop. The kit contains all the material and step-by-step instructions to create your own terrazzo coasters at home. In their webshop you also shop all kinds of interior accessories that are made at Mivas, a social workplace in Lier. And: do your (grand) parents live in a retirement home? Then you can surprise them with a nice plant via www.houseraccoon.com. A must!
