Tried & Tested: A Bela Aurora Porto

You would walk right past it on the street (we did!), but behind the rather sober facade of Rua do Rosário 227 hides a real paradise. If you appreciate high ceilings, pine wood floors and a great stairwell as much as I do, this bed and breakfast might be your go-to spot for a wonderful weekend in Porto.

No city trip bustle

On a central street in the residential Art District of Porto you’ll find A Bela Aurora. The bed & breakfast, situated in a townhouse from 1870, was named after the famous café in the movie Casablanca. Hosts Paula and Massimo renovated the building together with their architect son and left no detail unattended. It’s no secret that they both worked in the creative industry - she was a photographer, he worked in the music business - as the house is covered in beautiful artwork. As soon as you close the front door behind you, you find yourself in an oasis of peace and quiet. Time to forget about the typical city trip bustle for a minute!

Balcony goals

The house has five spacious suites and a number of common areas like a cosy living room and a beautiful courtyard. Breakfast is served at a long table in the basement-based kitchen. We stayed in Suite five and fell in love with the narrow balcony overlooking Porto’s richly tiled facades, but it’s easy to say that all five suites are equally beautiful. Still looking for an extra reason to book your stay? All bath amenities are eco-friendly and there’s a yoga math in every room. Just saying!
